What Nerdy stores

Nerdy processes account identifiers, email, username, settings, explicit learning-profile answers, Pathways and planned topics, subjects and chapters, tutor-authored Kites, Review Sheets, diagrams, plots, steps, grounding and authorship labels, source references, captures, revision schedules, answer summaries, scores, stated confidence, corrections, classifications, flashcard-session snapshots, and connection records. It also processes device notification tokens, consent choices, and limited security, support, and diagnostic records.

Source files stay with you and the assistant provider you choose. Nerdy does not receive, parse, or store those files, and does not import full conversation history. A filename or URL saved as a source reference is not a copy of the source.

How records are used and shared

We use these records to preserve learning, personalize tutoring from your explicit preferences, schedule reviews, synchronize your account, provide support, and secure the service. When you connect an assistant, authorized MCP tools exchange the bounded learning profile, saved knowledge, plans, session state, answer summaries, and record identifiers needed for the requested workflow. Credentials and unrelated learners' records are not returned as tutoring content. The assistant provider processes the conversation under its own policies.

Optional Friends features store usernames, friendships, blocks, reports, and sharing records. Sharing sends a recipient-owned copy of the learning content you select, with provenance. Evidence, progress, schedules, source references, and Pathway dates do not transfer. Deleting your original does not remove a recipient's independent copy.

Service providers

Auth0 provides authentication. Google Cloud hosts the services and PostgreSQL database in Mumbai (asia-south1); Firebase provides content-free push reminders. Google Play distributes the Android app. OpenAI or another assistant provider receives learning records only when you authorize the relevant connection. Providers may process authentication, delivery, and support data outside the database region under their own service terms.

Retention and controls

Learning records are retained for your account until deleted. Replaced Kites and Review Sheets retain prior versions in security audit records. Account deletion revokes assistant access immediately and schedules removal of live account content within 30 days; rolling backup copies expire afterward. Recipient-owned shared copies remain under the recipient's control. Security records may be retained as needed to investigate abuse or meet legal obligations.

You can correct or delete learning records, request exports, revoke assistant access, manage Friends and sharing, withdraw optional analytics consent, and request account deletion through the app. Contact support if you cannot access those controls. Optional analytics uses allow-listed events and coarse counts; routine logs exclude saved explanations, full learner answers, passwords, and access tokens.

Eligibility

Nerdy is intended for adults. Do not supply sensitive personal information that is unnecessary for your study request. Grounding labels show where an explanation came from; they do not certify correctness.
